Parish Finance
Last weekend’s income to be communicated next week. This weekend’s second collection is for SCIAF. Many thanks to our parishioners for your continuous financial help to SCIAF and many other charities. Highly appreciated.
 
Sunday Second Collections during Lent
Throughout the season of Lent our Sunday second collections (except 4th Sunday, SCIAF Collection - today) will be taken up in support of the retired and sick clergy of the Archdiocese of Glasgow.
 
Sacrament of Reconciliation on Friday 23rd March
St Martins P3 Children will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in St Martins church on Friday 23rd March at 7pm. The next Parish catechesis class is on Saturday 17th March 10.30am – 12noon. Please remember these children and all our children in your prayers.
 
Stations of the Cross
Throughout this holy season of Lent, there will be Stations of the Cross in our parish church every Tuesday and Friday at 7pm.
Also... Jennifer continues with our Meditation on the Stations of the Cross in the Hall on Monday at 7pm. Invite your friends.
 
Cluster Holy Hour of Recollection
Our parish St Martin of Tours will host this year’s Cluster Lenten event, Holy Hour of Recollection on 26th March 2018 at 7.00pm. It is expected that the celebration will be concluded with a Benediction. Fr Charles McElwee will preside over the liturgy of the day. Light supper in the hall afterwards.
 
Parish and Pastoral Council (PPC) summary of Meeting
Jennifer is to become more involved in Parish Catechesis.
Molly hopes to enter The Kilt Walk and has permission to place sponsor sheet at the back of the church in aid of SVDP.
Jennifer is to organise “Rosary on the Coast” for SVDP with possible venue Levengrove Park on 29th April.
Alter servers would like new albs.
Letter from AOG to advise building communication with local government.
Margaret again expressed concern for more help in managing the Hall, Fr Anthony is appealing to people who may be interested to come forward.
Fr Anthony told CM and Margaret to continue in Office for another 3year term.
 
Sacrament of Confirmation
We congratulate our children Luke Callanin and Isabella Smith and all the children who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Thursday in Our Lady and St Mark’s. We pray that the fullness of the gifts of the Holy Spirit they have received will strengthen them as soldiers of Christ and in bearing witness to the Gospel of peace and love.
 
Mass of St Patrick Celebrated by Archbishop Tartaglia
Saturday 17th March at 11.30am in Saint Andrew’s Cathedral. Please come early – welcome by Irish piper, followed by music from St James the Great Ceilidh band.
 
Taize Evening of Music and Prayer
Taize – at St Margaret’s, Sinclair Street, Clydebank G81 1AE. Join with Brother Paolo from the Taize Community who will be present on Monday 12 March at 7pm to take part in a Taize evening of music and prayer. At the end of the evening Brother Paolo will speak about Taize and there will be an opportunity to meet him in the hall afterwards at a small reception. Everyone is very welcome.
 
A Lenten Reflection for teachers and school staff
--will take place on Wednesday 14th March at 7pm in St Andrew’s Cathedral.
 
The Mass of Ordination
-- of Vincent Toal will be celebrated by the Archbishop in Saint Andrew’s Cathedral on Monday 19th March at 6.30 pm. All are welcome to this Mass and also to the Mass of Thanksgiving on Tuesday 20th March at 6.30 pm in Saint Joseph’s Parish, Tollcross.
 
Day of Confession in the Cathedral.
In recent years the Day of Confessions in the Cathedral has proved very popular. This is being arranged again this Lent and will take place on Thursday 22nd March 2018, from 7.45am—5.45pm. For more info see poster in the porch.
 
Newman Association
“Christian-Muslim Relations” A talk by Dr Anthony Allison. The Ogilvie Centre, St Aloysius’ Church, Rose Street, Glasgow, G3 6RE at 7.30pm on March 22nd 2018. All welcome. Non-members: admission £3 - includes refreshments.
