Offertory Collection £397.00 & 2nd Collection £250.00 Many thanks for your generosity to the parish and clergy. Highly appreciated. Our second collection this weekend (23rd / 24th) is taken up in support of Mary’s Meals.
Holy Mass for Newly Married Couples of 2017
Archbishop Tartaglia will celebrate Holy Mass for the newly married couples of the archdiocese in St Andrew’s Cathedral on Sunday 8th October at 3pm. All couples of the archdiocese married during the past few years are invited.
St Martin of Tours: Forty Hours Adoration 24th -26th September 2017
The Forty Hours Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament for our parish starts this Sunday, the 24th September. The Blessed Sacrament will be enthroned at the end of 10.00am Sunday Mass (24th) until 4.30pm. On Monday 25th and Tues. 26th, the Blessed Sacrament is enthroned after 9.30am Mass until our Service of Prayer, Reflection, and Adoration at 7pm.
To enable as many parishioners, as possible, to enjoy time before the Lord, a Family Holy Hour has been planned on the same Sunday from 3.30-4.30pm. The aim of this is to support our youngest members to participate in this special time in the parish. It is open to everyone. Please come along and support our young people.
Mary’s Meals. Annual Raffle and Rags to Riches. [Cloth Collection Sunday 24th September 2017]
Mary’s Meals will be in our parish this weekend for their annual raffle and rags to riches clothing collection. The van will collect from St Martin’s on Sunday 24th after 10am Mass. Mary’s Meals are only able to collect textiles including rags but not bric-a-brac and are unable to collect in the evening.
Altar Servers are having a Parish Quiz/Ceilidh on 6th October 2017
Altar Servers are having a Parish Quiz/Ceilidh on 6th October to help raise funds for the Parish… Donations of home baking welcomed. Tickets are on sale at the back of the church. £1 for child £2 for adult, includes light supper. Bar is available.
Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Meeting
The Council Meeting was held as scheduled and we sincerely thank all those who participated. Some of the highlights of the meeting include: to have our traditional October Devotions (Mondays &Wednesdays); shift in date of St Martin’s Feast Day from 11th (Saturday) to 10th to accommodate the pupils of the St Martin’s Primary School, (the feast itself is to be preceded by 9 days novena prayer); Our Remembrance Mass to be held on Thursday, 2nd November, 2017 at 7pm.
St Michael’s Dumbarton SPRED Group
The Dumbarton SPRED group, based at St. Michael's supports adults who have a learning disability to take part in the life of our parish. To continue our work, we need new volunteers to join our group. If you would like to find out more, you will be welcome to an information evening on Tuesday, 3rd October at the SPRED Centre, 20 Robroyston Road, Glasgow, G33 1EQ at 7 p.m., repeated on Wednesday, 4th October at 2 p.m. If you would like to speak to one of St Michael’s group, please do not hesitate to call Eileen on 01389 605080 or 07939120030.
October Devotion 2017.
We shall have October devotions to Our Lady on Mondays and Wednesdays (throughout the Month of October) at 7pm. Our devotion begins each day with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, rosary (with litany) and finally benediction.
Beginning Experience
The Beginning Experience are holding a residential weekend for those who find themselves suffering bereavement through divorce, separation or widowhood. The weekend will take place form 6th –8th October 2017 at the Conforti Centre, Coatbridge. Aid to Church in Need
‘It takes Courage and Faith to be a Christian in the Middle East’: An evening of witness, prayer and reflection for the Persecuted Church’. Aid to the Church in Need would like to invite all parishioners to our annual Scottish Event Guests Speakers: Archbishop Issam John Darwish, Lebanon John Pontifex, ACN’s Head of Press and Information UK. The Flourish (September Edition) The September edition of The Flourish, the Archdiocesan newspaper is available. Please collect your copy from the back of the church.
We welcome Fr Chido back to our parish
Fr Chido will be in our parish from 1st –11th October 2017. While in the parish, he will use the opportunity to thank the parishioners for their generosity and kindness towards the students of Stella Maris Academy in Nigeria. He still requests our assistance for the continued upkeep of these children. A second collection is to be taken up on the 8th October for this purpose.
