Parish Finance
Last weekend’s income was: Offertory Collection: £680.00. 2nd Collection: £504.00 (New Boiler collection)).Many thanks to all parishioners for your continuous financial help to the parish and to the Archdiocese. Much appreciated. Our second collection this weekend is again taken up in support of the installation of a new Oil Boiler in the Hall

The May edition of The Flourish, the Archdiocesan newspaper is available. Please collect your copy from the back of the church.
 
First Communion
We congratulate our primary 4 schoolchildren who made their first holy communion this Sunday past. We also thank everybody—their parents, the parish catechist, Head teacher, deputy head teacher, the class teacher and all the teachers and pupils of St Martin Primary school—for the support given to these children.
 
Special Appeal for the replacement of our Oil Boiler
The parish is organising a special appeal for the replacement of the Oil Boiler in the Hall. The next appeal comes up on: 25th /26th May 2019. The cost of the replacement of the boiler and other jobs needing done is put at approximately £9,000.00.
 
May Devotion
Our May Devotion continues on Monday 27th May at 7.00pm, and that will be the last day. There will be NO devotion on Wednesday 29th May due to the Vigil Mass of the Solemnity of Ascension at 6.00pm.
 
Parish and Pastoral Council (PPC) Meeting
The Parish Pastoral Council Meeting was held as scheduled. Activities of past Months since after the last PPC meeting were reviewed: the Merit Award ceremony was adjudged very successful, the Altar Servers Alb appeal fund still ongoing, the change of the Missalettes from the John Neale’s version to Redemptorists’ version comes into effect next month—all things  being equal. The Council also accepted a proposal to have a copy of the Minutes of the Meeting kept in a File in the Stall and a copy pined to the board for easy access to the parishioners.  Next meeting is scheduled for August 12th2019 at 7.00pm in the Chapel House.
 
FFC (Fabric and Finance Council) Meeting
The will be FFC meeting on Monday 6th June 2019 at 7.00pm in the chapel house. All members please take note.
 
Vicar General
After seven years of dedicated and diligent service as Vicar General, Monsignor Paul Conroy has asked to stand down from this Office, and the Archbishop Most Rev Philip Tartaglia has acceded to his request which is effective as of 5pm on this past Friday 17th May 2019. Monsignor Paul Conroy continues his priestly ministry as Parish Priest of Sacred Heart, Bridgeton.
 
Incardination
The Archbishop, Most Rev Philip Tartaglia is also pleased to advise that Fr Anthony Ejikeme, (formerly of the Missionaries of the Sons of Immaculate Heart of Mary— Claretian Missionaries), Parish Priest of St Martin's, Renton, has now been INCARDINATED into the Presbyterate of the Archdiocese of Glasgow. Wishes him every blessing and happiness as a priest of the Archdiocese of Glasgow.
 
Glasgow the Welcoming City  
Glasgow City Chambers, Sunday 23rd June at 3pm.You are warmly invited to join in the celebration of Glasgow the Welcoming City where we will hear of the work taking place in parishes across the city supporting new Glaswegians, addressing poverty and Employment Issues. We will hear reflections from Faith and Civic Leaders and there will be music and Song from Glasgow’s schoolchildren, a Ghanaian Choir, the Salvation Army Band and St Mungo Singers. All welcome. Refreshments will follow in the Satinwood Suite.
 
Mass in Spanish
Unidos en la fe. Spanish- speaking Catholics in Scotland, invite you to celebrate La Santa Misa (Spanish Mass) on 26th May at 12.30 in Saint Mary’s Star of the Sea parish, Leith. The Annual Memorial Mass at Linn Cemetery will take place in the cemetery on Saturday 1st June 2019 starting at 3.00pm. All Welcome.

St Martin’s Primary School Family Fun Day
Saturday 9th June 10am - 2pm. Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Football Tournament, Raffle, Tombola and Dancing Display.
Donations for the raffle or tombola would be gratefully received and may be given to Margaret Mary Mooney, Stephen Storrie or handed into the school.
