October Devotion 2019
--Our October devotion continues this week—Monday and Wednesday—7pm.
 
Mass of Remembrance (Month of Holy Souls)
--will be offered for all deceased parishioners of the past year on Monday 4th November at 7.00pm. The families, and all parishioners are invited to the Hall for a light refreshment after the Mass. November lists now available in the porch. Please return lists to church (sacristy) or chapel house.
 
Extra Ordinary Mission Month. 2019
Thank you for showing that ‘together we are mission’ by responding to Missio Scotland’s World Mission Sunday Appeal last weekend. Together as a parish we raised £507.00+. Your donations and prayers will go towards supporting the work of our missionaries worldwide.
 
Eastfield Cemetery, Cumbernauld
Rosary and Prayers for those buried at Eastfield Cemetery, Cumbernauld, will take place on Sunday 3rd November at 3pm. All welcome. Holy Water will be available for those who wish to sprinkle the graves.
 
Mass for Deceased Archbishops, Bishops and Priests of the Archdiocese: 
Archbishop Tartaglia will celebrate the annual Mass for deceased clergy of the Archdiocese of Glasgow at 1pm on Friday 8th November in Saint Andrew’s Cathedral.  All welcome.
 
Remembrance Mass
…in Saint Agnes’ Church, Lambhill for all those who are buried in Saint Kentigern’s Cemetery, the Western Necopolis and Lambhill Cemeteries or whose final committal was at Glasgow Crematorium. Sunday 10th November 2019 at 3.00 pm. All welcome. Tea after Mass. Music provided by the Saint Mungo Singers.
 
Considering Primary Teaching? 
There will be an information evening for people considering applying for Initial Teacher Education programmes (primary school) in St. Patrick’s Primary School, 10 Perth Street, Glasgow G3 8UQ on Tuesday 12th November 2019 from 6.30-8.00pm.  This event will focus on preparing for interview.  Representatives from the University of Glasgow, the Archdiocesan Primary Head Teachers Association (APHTA), Church and Local Authority Church Representatives will be present to discuss the application process, Teacher Approval, etc. and to explain what support is on offer and answer questions.
 
Scottish Interfaith Week (10th – 17th November 2019)
Listening to the voices of young people.  Come and hear young people from different faiths talk about their faith and what interfaith means to them.  There will be an opportunity to ask questions and have conversations with people of all ages.  The Council of Christians and Jews and Interfaith Scotland are hosting the event.  Monday 11th November from 6-8pm in the University Chapel, University of Glasgow – Main Building, Gilmorehill Campus, University of Glasgow, Chapel Corridor (South), West Quadrangle, G12 8QQ.  Register for the event via Eventbrite: www.eventbrite.co.uk/ast-as-an-expression-of-faith-a-conversation-with-john-clark-tickets-76664733281
 
Thought for the day
Humility, humiliation, low self-esteem: these things get all mixed up in our minds and in our feelings. In the past, humility was encouraged by humiliation—really an abuse, which must have caused much harm. Low self-esteem—the root of many problems and addictions—used to be confused with humility. A robust humility is really an exercise in truth-telling about ourselves. If we are to be grounded in the humus (earth) of our human existences, then we do need to be honest in our appraisal, affirming the good and recognising courageously our faults. Humility goes with being human.
